Whether it be religious reasons, the theory of consciousness, or spirituality, past lives is becoming an increasingly common use of phrase “...in my past life…” and concept.
As a hypnotherapist, I am curious about past lives and the experiences people share.
What are past lives?
A past life is the idea that once you die, you return to earth to learn the lessons you’ve missed, live out karma or for a soul contract. Each life has a purpose, and some school of thoughts suggest that you would return time and time again, experiencing all backgrounds, cultures, and genders, until enlightened. Earth being a school for which we are here to learn.
There are no fixed number of rounds, and many things can be covered in one life, where others appear rather dull and uneventful.
Some people may be living life for the first time, others numerous times over, and for the “old souls” it may be on their last round on earth.
There is the theory that there is a time to which you wait, for all whom you know on earth to pass on, before heading to a higher consciousness.
Some believe you come back at the same time as another to do life again together, or to help the other soul through this lifetime.
It isn’t a quick turnaround, it can be years, decades or more until you reincarnate back on earth.
It’s a fascinating topic, to which no one really knows the answers too, but it has been echoed throughout cultures and history, over and over.
So, how can my past life help me?
There are a few ways in which tapping into your past life through past life regression (PLR) can help you in the here and now:
One, it can be helpful to know why you are here. What is it your soul is seeking currently? Past Lives show up through regression because it or they are relevant. If it isn’t relevant, it isn’t shown. Therefore, it can support us in our purpose, or recognising what we are missing in this life to make it the most fulfilled one possible.
Secondly, many people can feel “stuck” in life. Either not sure where they are going or know exactly what they want and not being able to get there. There is a gap or fog between “present me” and “future self”. Past Life Regression can help shift those stuck moments by revealing something on a subconscious level related to the stuck-ness that can move us forward, or highlight something prevalent from the past that plays out in this current life and keeps us in a loop.
Lastly, past life regression can also play out metaphors. There may be a situation, event or decision that plays over and over in your mind or has escaped you completely but lies in your subconscious waiting to be uncovered. The metaphors can often reveal something about the situation that is unseen or effecting your life in a way that you hadn’t realised because it is acting out subconsciously. Past life reflections can shine light on the subconscious behaviours and narratives that are alive, but unseen.
Past life regression can be a form of therapy, additional to therapy or potentially hold the answer you’ve been seeking if you are stuck in your head. It also partners really well with healing, should something come up during a session that reveals a need to be energetically cleared or healed.
What if Past Life Regression doesn’t work on me?
Some people can find it easier visualising than others. We will use all the senses if you struggle with one and are stronger in another. No one will experience nothing, eventually there is always something that is ready to be seen. Especially if you have felt drawn.
All that is required is that you find a comfortable, safe space, where you won’t be disturbed and give yourself permission to relax. We do the rest.
With patience and time, you will have an experience. Solkemist leaves plenty of during sessions to allow it to unfold without pressure or rush. We also do follow-ups, so that, if you didn’t feel the need for another regression but you would like some TLC or space to talk through what has come up, then we provide you that safe space complementary.
Aftercare:
It is important to look after yourself after a regression and continue to move through your day relaxed and at ease. Do not drink alcohol after, avoid caffeine and nicotine prior and post sessions, and take it easy. Make the day a day of rest as it will stir something within you, and your mind will be reorganising and processing after.
Solkemist recommends after a PLR session; journaling, napping and plenty of water!
